The abundance of distilleries in Scotland is heaven for whisky lovers, but it can also be a challenge when you're on the road and trying to keep track of them all (especially as there are now over 130 of them, with more opening every year!). We've created an interactive Scotland Distillery Map to help you plan your tours of distilleries in Scotland, as well as an illustrated Whisky Map of Scotland available as a fine art print or matte paper poster .
See our Map Key section below for the different colour and icon codes (for the interactive map), which will help provide information on which whisky distilleries you can visit. Those with green pins generally have tours every day; however it always pays to book distillery visits in advance.
Whisky Distilleries in Scotland can close at short notice due to maintenance, local holidays, and with the increasing popularity of distillery touring, many tours will book out. To avoid disappointment, always book distillery tours well in advance (at least 2-3 days ahead). Tastings are usually available without a booking, but once again, it pays to call ahead and confirm this before you drive many miles.
Map Key
Map pins shown in black are distilleries not open to the public. They’re on the map as you might want to take a photo if you’re going past. Keep in mind though that some are simply massive industrial ‘whisky factories’ and might not be worth the trip. A quick google image search should give you a good indication of what to expect.
Visits to distilleries with map pins shown in orange are by appointment only.
Distilleries with green pins are open to the public, and you can visit without an appointment. However, we suggest you book anyway.
Distilleries with yellow pins are under construction (and not currently open to the public).

Map of Scotland Distilleries - Poster
We love Scotland and her distilleries so much we decided create our own beautiful map as a keepsake/reminder of our travels, and it is available to purchase. It's perfect for hanging in your home bar or lounge room, AND it's designed by our very own (and very talented) Roddy MacEachern. If you're an Islay whisky fan, we also have three Islay Distillery Maps.

Not A Distillery
There are also several ‘not a distillery’ points of interest on the maps. These are by no means exhaustive, just some key attractions you may wish to visit while on your spirited adventures.
Camera icons are for especially scenic or historical sites.
Martini glass icons are for establishments that serve tasty libations, and many of these also sell bottles of fine spirits.
How To Use The Scotland Whisky Distillery Maps
These Scotland Whisky Distillery Maps are compiled using Google My Maps.
If you do not have a Google Account
If you do not have a Google account, you can still use the maps to:
> view distillery locations and other points of interest
> print the map and list of distilleries
> export the map pin locations via a KML file which can be imported into other navigation applications and devices
> get directions to a distillery
Select the three vertical dots to access the menu options for the map.
The map will open in a new browser window.
Select the three vertical dots to access the menu options for the map.
Menu items for non google users include Print and Export to KML. You can also select more distillery regions to show on the map. Note: the copy map option is not available unless you are logged into your google account.
Use the Scotland Whisky Distillery Map to get directions to the next distillery on your tour. Click on the Distillery Pin, then click on the arrow icon next to the Distillery's profile. This will automatically open Google Maps and ask for your starting location.
If you do have a google account
If you do have a google account, you will be able to 'save'/copy the map to your own My Maps account (the files save to Google Drive) and add your own pins and route information.
Logged in Google users can copy the Scotland Whisky Distillery Map to their own My Map application
Add driving/route information to your saved / copied map - this is a really useful tool when trying to work out how long/how far between distilleries. They're sometimes a lot further than you might think!
Once you have copied the map to your own Google My Maps, you can add additional pins and create your own driving routes.

I have tried to ensure that all the older distilleries are on there, along with accurate information on whether they are open to the public or otherwise. If you find information missing (especially new distilleries), or something is inaccurate, please let me know, and I’ll update the map! I would love for the Scotland Whisky Distillery Map to be as complete and helpful as possible for touring distilleries around Scotland.
Credit has to go to the Visit Scotland website for their fantastic interactive ebook – I found it an excellent resource to identify all the regional distilleries, but you can't use it to plot a distillery road trip. The Scotch Whisky Association also have a printable PDF showing all the distilleries.

Your route north from Glasgow to Stirling is one which has been used for thousands of years by invading armies. It was the northernmost frontier of the Roman empire, and was later used by the English King Edward I, as he marched proudly towards Stirling. Take in the stunning views from Stirling Castle before heading off to the Trossachs National Park with its shimmering lochs, rugged mountain tops and forest-filled glens for lunch. After lunch you ‘take the high road’ or back-road to Loch Lomond; at over 22 miles long, and five miles wide at its widest point, it is Scotland’s largest loch. Then it is on to Glengoyne Distillery for an optional tour and tasting.
